May Update

With temperatures reaching 45 degrees, it is easy to say that the month of May is a hot one here in India. Regardless of the excruciating heat, Opportunity Foundation and it's growing family have a lot of exciting things to share about.

First of all, it is wedding season. Marriages happen every day, booking all of the function halls around. We are happy to share that three of our teachers are a part of this happy time of year - Ashwini, Rajitha, and Uma! The marriages are arranged here and the process that goes into a wedding is nothing less than spectacular. It is an all day event, for many it lasts for several days. Join us as we celebrate and congratulate our teachers in the joys of their new marriages.

Another thing that happens during the summer is construction. We found it very odd to do most of your building during the hottest time of the year, but that is how things go here in India. Coming back after a month away, we were so excited to get to see two of our teacher's with brand new homes. Angi and Rehana barely have words to express their excitement about their new places. Opportunity Foundation helped to make that happen for them. It helps give us peace knowing that they have better structures to call that can protect them from the elements.

Last but not least, the month of May brought expansion to our classrooms. Bramham, our watchman and handyman, worked tirelessly with the help of many others in the heat to construct two beautiful new classrooms. With our growing school, it was necessary to add more space to accommodate all of the classes.

We are so thankful for all of these wonderful changes. Thank you to everyone who follows the organization. Thank you for your thoughts, your prayers, support, and encouragement. Something powerful and mighty is moving through our school and will continue to. We are excited to share with you over the new school year how Opportunity Foundation continues to work in great ways with the people of Gabbilapet and Shanthi Nagar.
